Missyisms: Everyday Visitors

Hello! It’s me, Natalie, here with a layout created using the Missyisms collection from Cheeky Studio. The florals on the cut-apart sheet and the 8×8 papers were just what I needed for scrapping photos of the animal visitors to my garden. If you’d like to see how the layout came together, then check out the video below. Thanks for stopping by! xxx

Winter Flowers: Hop Into Spring

Hello, lovely friends! It’s me, design team member Natalie, here with a bonus layout for you. This month Tuesdae invited the design team and a bunch of other talented scrappers to participate in a Spring-themed YouTube hop. I chose to add a double-page layout to my garden scrapbook and scrapped a whole bunch of ‘before’ photos of my garden. Winter has come to an end, but we need to tidy the garden and get it ready for Spring and Summer – everything is a bit overgrown and untidy at the moment!

The Winter Flowers collection from Cheeky Studio seemed to me to be the perfect collection to go with these pictures. It added the promise of warmth and colour that’s missing from our garden at the moment.

Family First: Friends Forever

Hello, lovely friends! Natalie here, with another Family First layout for you. This scrapbook page is destined for my son’s scrapbook album, so it is A4 in size – that’s 8.27 × 11.69 inches for those who want to know!

The photo was taken by the beach at Swanage on the very south coast of England while we were on holiday a few years ago. I love how carefree the children look. The little girl and boy from the Family First ephemera pack worked so well with the photo, I had to add them twice!

To create the background, I used watercolour sprays, stamps and stencils. I also added wood veneer that I’d painted gold and made glittery using in gold Stickles. It was a lot of fun to get messy with this layout! If you’d like to see how it came together, then check out the video below. And until next time … happy scrapping! x

Family First: Messy Bun

Hello, lovely friends! It’s me, Natalie, back with another design team layout for you. This month, I’m having a blast with the Family First ephemera from Cheeky Studio – it’s perfect for scrapping photos of my children.

I love this picture of my daughter helping out with the dishes a few years ago – she was only little at the time and had to stand on a step to reach the sink! The little girl in the ephemera pack was the perfect embellishment, as she looks just like my daughter!

The stars in the ephemera pack were great for this layout too, as she was a complete star at washing up all the dirty dishes! The square pieces also made a fab foundation for the photos to sit on.

Family First: Sassy Lassy

Hello, Cheekies! It’s design team member Natalie here with my first layout for March. This month, Tuesdae sent me the Family First ephemera pack to work with, as well as the Mermaid Tales sequin mix and the Sassy Lassy acrylic, and I’ve had a fun time using them to scrap photos of my family!

The photo I scrapped for this layout is of my daughter, and it was taken a few years ago when we were on holiday in Minehead (UK), and in it, she’s is sitting in a GIANT deckchair with her legs crossed, her arms crossed and a sassy look on her face. The Family First ephemera and the sassy lassy acrylic were clearly the perfect accompaniment.

I love the bright colours in this ephemera – they’re so vibrant, and matched my photograph so well it’s as if they were made for each other.

Norwegian Wood: Stay Wild

Hello, Cheekies! It’s me, Natalie, back with my last design team project for February. I had an absolute blast creating this layout! I started by using my Silhouette Cameo to cut out a tonne of the leaves from the Cheeky Studio ‘Florals’ cut file, and then I painted them with watercolour while they were still stuck to the cutting mat.

While the leaves were drying, I splodged Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on a piece of white cardstock to give the background lots of energy and to give the leaves something to sit on.

Once the leaves were dry, I took them off the cutting mat and glued them down to the background in a wreath shape. I made sure to only glue the base of the leaves so that the tips would stick up a bit and give the layout some dimension.

The photos I scrapped on this layout, are of my children playing in the back garden of the house in which we used to live, and the ephemera pack provided lots of lovely pieces reminiscent of that garden – flowers, birds, an owl and the resident fox who used to steal my tea-towels!

Norwegian Wood: The Beauty of Nature

Hello! It’s me, Natalie, back with my second Norwegian Wood layout. It was the perfect collection for scrapping these photos of my children, harvesting blackberries from bushes in the park near our home.

To make this layout, I started by daubing Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on white card stock. It is just the right shade of red. I also added daubs of Peeled Paint Distress Ink to create some contrast and depth.

Once the ink was dry, I layered on torn strips of two of the Norwegian Wood papers and matted the photos on a strip of the red paper. After that, it was just a question of adding the ephemera and a few embellishments, including some off-cuts of ribbon and enamel dots.

If you’d like to see exactly how this layout came to life, you can watch the video below. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time … happy scrapping! xxx

Bridemaids with Mari Clarke

For this 12×12 layout, Mari started with her journaling; she created the journaling in Microsoft Word and then printed that in a vertical format on white cardstock.  She used a 12×12 piece of textured white cardstock for the layout base.  Using some of the Cheeky Studio floral paper as a mat, Mari created a floral themed project to complement the photo documenting her daughter’s bachelorette party.

The floral cut file from the shop was used to create the large embellishment pieces.  Mari added Color Shine in Ocean, Butter, Teal, Pink, and Citron to complement the colors of the patterned paper.  The sweet floral and foliage die cuts used with the cut file are from Cheeky Studio as well.  The flair and cut aparts were used to finish off the centers of the floral pieces.

Mari added some stitching and gold splatters to complete the layout.
